First of all

We are a working farm. At the table we serve the Venetian cooking of the old days, in the glass we pour our own wine and the house is heated with the cuttings from pruning.

The whole place is heated by a wood-chip boiler fuelled by vine prunings we chip on the farm.

Charging for electric cars

Anyone who comes for dinner, to stay or to buy wine can charge their electric car at our charging points.

Who handles your data

The data controller is Az. Agr. Castaldia di Fontana Rita (sole proprietorship), registered at Via Castaldia 8, 31010 Mareno di Piave (TV), Italy, VAT no. IT03461070264. The farm stay itself is at Via Castaldia 12/a. For any privacy question, write to info@castaldia.it or call +39 348 890 6924.

What data we use and why

  • Requests and bookings. The form on this site does not send or store anything: it prepares a message and opens WhatsApp, and you decide whether to send it. If you send it, or call or email us, we receive what you tell us (name, dates, number of guests, notes) together with your phone number or email address. We use them only to answer you and to manage the booking. Legal basis: answering your request and taking steps towards the booking (Art. 6(1)(b) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”).
  • Allergies and intolerances. If you tell us about them, we use them only to cook for you safely. Mentioning them is your choice (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR).
  • Technical browsing data. Like every website, the server hosting these pages logs some technical data for security (IP address, browser type, page visited, date and time). We do not use it to identify you or for advertising. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and working (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We do not use your data for newsletters or advertising, and we do not pass it on to anyone.

Who else sees it

  • WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Limited, Meta group): messages travel through its app, under its own privacy policy.
  • Netlify, Inc., which hosts the site and processes the technical data on our behalf. It is based in the United States: the transfer relies on the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
  • Google, only if you choose to open the map (see the cookie policy).
  • Our accountant and the authorities, only when the law requires it (for example for invoices).

How long we keep it

We keep requests for as long as needed to answer you and manage your dinner or stay, then for 12 months at most, except for documents the law requires us to keep longer (such as tax records). Technical server data is deleted automatically after a short time.

Your rights

At any time you can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, object to its processing or receive a copy (Articles 15–22 GDPR): just write to info@castaldia.it. If you think your data is being handled unlawfully, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).

This site uses no profiling, advertising or statistics cookies (such as Google Analytics). That is why there is no cookie banner: the Italian data protection authority’s guidelines of 10 June 2021 do not require consent for purely technical tools.

What we save in your browser

  • castaldia-suono (the browser’s local storage, not a cookie): it only remembers whether you turned the background music on or off, so your choice stays when you come back. It holds no personal data and stays until you clear your browser data.

Fonts, photos and sounds are part of the site itself: opening the pages contacts no outside service.

Content from other sites

  • Google Maps: the map loads only if you press “Show the Google map”. From then on Google receives your IP address and may use its own cookies, under its privacy and cookie policies.
  • WhatsApp and Google Maps: the buttons that open these apps take you off the site, where their own rules apply.
